Smart Life (Tuya) on a Mac

Smart Life / Tuya Smart plugs, lights, sensors and cameras via the Tuya Cloud · IoT

Smart Life and Tuya Smart are the apps behind thousands of budget smart-home brands; plugs, switches, bulbs, sensors and Wi-Fi cameras all built on Tuya modules. FrontierStack reads them through Tuya's official Cloud API (IoT Core): every device's online state, plug power draw, and on/off switching for plugs, switches and lights. Choose the bell on any device to be alerted when it goes offline (through Alerts, so contacts and escalation presets apply). Smart Life cameras also appear on the Cameras board. One-time setup. Sign in at iot.tuya.com and create a Cloud project (Development method Smart Home, data center matching your app account's region; Japanese accounts use Western America). In the project open Devices ▸ Link Tuya App Account and scan the QR code with the Smart Life app. Copy the Access ID and Access Secret from the project's Overview into this pane and pick the same data center. Limits. The free IoT Core trial allows about 26,000 API calls a month, at most 50 devices and 10 controllable devices, and must be extended every few months (Cloud ▸ My Services ▸ Extend Trial Period); FrontierStack polls every 10 minutes to stay well inside it, and explains Tuya's error codes in plain language when something is off. One app account can be linked to at most two projects.
