Apache Tika detects and extracts text and metadata from over a thousand file types (PDF, Office, images via OCR, audio/video, archives). Run as tika-server to expose a REST API for parsing and language detection; a common back-end for search indexing and document pipelines (e.g. feeding Paperless/OpenSearch). Docker (apache/tika); API on :9998.
