Podman on a Mac

Daemonless, Docker-compatible containers · Containers

Podman runs OCI containers without a root daemon — the podman CLI is Docker-compatible (alias docker=podman works for most workflows), with pods and systemd-style units. On macOS it uses a lightweight VM: podman machine init && podman machine start. Add Podman Desktop for a GUI. A drop-in alternative when you'd rather not run Docker Desktop.

Run Podman with FrontierStack

FrontierStack lists Podman in its Containers catalog. Install or connect it from one place, then monitor its status, ports and certificate, secure it with the firewall and Malware Audit, and back it up.

Run it all from one Mac app.

FrontierStack installs, monitors and secures the whole stack — locally and across your fleet — from a single native macOS app.
