Packer (HashiCorp) builds golden machine images; AMIs, Azure/GCP images, Docker, Vagrant boxes; from a single source template (HCL), running provisioners (shell, Ansible, Chef) to bake in configuration. brew install packer, then packer build. Pairs with Terraform (provision from the images) and Ansible (configure them).
