Build identical machine images for any platform (CLI) · Infrastructure as Code
Packer (HashiCorp) builds golden machine images — AMIs, Azure/GCP images, Docker, Vagrant boxes — from a single source template (HCL), running provisioners (shell, Ansible, Chef) to bake in configuration. brew install packer, then packer build. Pairs with Terraform (provision from the images) and Ansible (configure them).
