kubeadm is the upstream tool to bootstrap a best-practice vanilla Kubernetes cluster; kubeadm init on the control plane, kubeadm join on workers, then install a CNI. You pick the exact K8s version. The most "stock" distribution; you manage upgrades with kubeadm upgrade.
