iSCSI carries SCSI block storage over TCP/IP (default port 3260). Initiator (client): Linux open-iscsi (iscsiadm -m discovery -t st -p , iscsiadm -m node --login, iscsiadm -m session -P3 to monitor sessions, state under /sys/class/iscsi_session); macOS needs a third-party initiator (ATTO Xtend SAN, globalSAN, KernSafe). Target (server): Linux LIO/targetcli (targetcli ls), tgt (tgtadm/tgt-admin -s), or a SAN appliance. Multipath via multipath -ll. Monitor: watch the target's TCP 3260 here (Remote Instance → Alerts), and iscsiadm -m session / dmesg for path drops over SSH.
