strongSwan is an IKEv2/IPsec VPN server; the closest modern equivalent to Apple Server's VPN service (which offered L2TP/IPsec), and it works natively with the built-in macOS/iOS VPN client. Install with Homebrew or a Linux package; define connections in swanctl.conf. For a simpler, faster tunnel consider WireGuard instead (also in the catalogue).
