Music Assistant is an open-source music server that joins your streaming services and local files (Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Qobuz, YouTube Music, Plex, Jellyfin, Subsonic/Navidrome, a file share…) into one library, and plays it on almost any speaker: AirPlay, Google Cast, Sonos, Squeezebox/Lyrion, Snapcast, DLNA, and HA media players; including synced multi-room groups. It is the Home Assistant team's music project and pairs with the Music Assistant integration in HA, but runs on its own server. Install it as a Home Assistant app (Settings ▸ Apps; the recommended route on HA OS) or as a Docker container on Linux: docker run -d --network host -v ma-data:/data ghcr.io/music-assistant/server. Host networking is mandatory (player discovery and streaming need the same layer-2 network as the speakers), and macOS/Windows are not supported hosts; Docker Desktop's VM hides the LAN from it. Web UI on :8095; audio streams to players on :8097. FrontierStack's Music Assistant monitor (below) connects with a long-lived token (MA ▸ Settings ▸ Profile) and raises Alerts when the server stops answering, a music or player provider fails to load or needs re-authentication, or a speaker you watch drops offline. Read-only: it never starts playback or changes settings.
