Headscale on a Mac
Self-hosted Tailscale control server (open-source) · VPN
Headscale is an open-source reimplementation of the Tailscale coordination server — run your own control plane so the normal Tailscale clients form a mesh with no dependency on Tailscale's cloud. Install with Homebrew (headscale); configure /opt/homebrew/etc/headscale, serve the API on :8080, register nodes with pre-auth keys, and point clients at it with tailscale up --login-server. Add headscale-ui for a web console.
Run Headscale with FrontierStack
FrontierStack lists Headscale in its VPN catalog. Install or connect it from one place, then monitor its status, ports and certificate, secure it with the firewall and Malware Audit, and back it up.
Run it all from one Mac app.
FrontierStack installs, monitors and secures the whole stack — locally and across your fleet — from a single native macOS app.
