How do I run Open Directory on a Mac?
Open Directory is macOS's built-in directory service — an LDAPv3 server (slapd) with Kerberos and a Password Server, used for centralized user accounts and authentication. It's not installed via Homebrew: enable and configure it with Directory Utility (or slapconfig).
