ZNC is an IRC bouncer: it stays connected to IRC networks for you and replays what you missed when your client reconnects, keeps your nick, and adds SASL/TLS, multiple networks and modules. brew install znc, then znc --makeconf to set the listen port + web admin, and run znc. The web admin + IRC listener share a port (commonly 6697/TLS).
