Prosody on a Mac
Lightweight XMPP (Messages) server · Chat & Collaboration
Prosody is a small, modern XMPP server — the natural replacement for Apple Server's Messages (jabberd) service. Install with Homebrew (brew install prosody) or a Linux package, add your domain and users in prosody.cfg.lua, and any XMPP client (Messages.app, Gajim, Conversations) connects on 5222/5269. Enable mod_smacks + mod_carbons for a modern IM experience.
Run Prosody with FrontierStack
FrontierStack lists Prosody in its Chat & Collaboration catalog. Install or connect it from one place, then monitor its status, ports and certificate, secure it with the firewall and Malware Audit, and back it up.
Run it all from one Mac app.
FrontierStack installs, monitors and secures the whole stack — locally and across your fleet — from a single native macOS app.
