MongoDB is a document-oriented NoSQL database storing JSON-like documents; popular for flexible schemas and rapid development. It's source-available (SSPL), so Homebrew installs the Community edition from MongoDB's tap (mongodb/brew/mongodb-community). Default port 27017.
