ModemManager is the Linux daemon that manages mobile-broadband modems; mmcli sends and reads SMS from the command line (mmcli -m 0 --messaging-create-sms=…). Linux-only (on a Pi or server with a USB modem); link that host in Fleet & Remote and drive it over SSH. Home Assistant and NetworkManager build on it.
