Apple HomeView on a Mac

Apple smart-home display & Thread border router (AirPlay 2) · IoT

HomeView is Apple's smart-home display, announced in October 2026 and shipping from 13 November 2026 (not sold in the EU). It has a 7-inch square display, an A18 chip, a 12MP Center Stage camera for FaceTime and Intercom, four microphones for Siri, and a temperature and humidity sensor. It comes in two models: a tabletop model on a speaker base, and a wall-mounted model on Schneider Home Power Mounts (USB-C, wired AC, or PoE from early 2027). Apple's specs list Wi-Fi 6E and no Ethernet port. It is a Thread border router for HomeKit and Matter Thread accessories, plays AirPlay 2 and multiroom audio, recognises up to six people by face, and can show up to nine Home camera feeds at once. There's no third-party API: set it up in the Home app, run Home scenes and accessories through the Shortcuts bridge (see the Apple Home pane), and AirPlay audio to it from this Mac. Device Discovery recognises a HomeView by its name and pins it as a Smart Hub.
