Ergo (formerly Oragono) is a modern IRC server written in Go — a single binary with no dependencies, full IRCv3 support, TLS, message history, and built-in NickServ/ChanServ (no separate services package needed). brew install ergo or grab a release; edit ircd.yaml and run ergo run. Plaintext on 6667, TLS on 6697. Great starting point for a private network.
