pgvector adds a vector type and similarity search (HNSW/IVFFlat indexes) to PostgreSQL; keep embeddings right next to your relational data, no separate DB. Install the extension (brew install pgvector for Homebrew Postgres, or it's bundled in many Postgres Docker images), then CREATE EXTENSION vector;. Extends the Postgres you already run.
