Tunnelblick is the popular free, open-source OpenVPN client for macOS — import a .ovpn config (or a Tunnelblick .tblk profile) and connect from the menu bar. Install the app, then double-click your config to add it. FrontierStack's VPN pane detects active Tunnelblick/OpenVPN tunnels and can open it; gateway/tunnel state feeds Alerts. (Alternatives: the openvpn CLI, or OpenVPN Connect.)
