UniFi OS Server runs the complete UniFi stack on hardware you own — macOS, Windows or Linux — so you can manage sites, VPN and UniFi Identity without a Cloud Key or Dream Machine. It supersedes the older standalone UniFi Network Application (the Java controller), which managed the network application alone. On macOS it installs as an app into /Applications and serves its console on https://localhost:11443 — note the non-standard port; it does not use 443. The installer offers to migrate an existing Network Server install. FrontierStack watches the backups, which is the part most easily left broken: UniFi OS Server can back up to the cloud or locally (Settings ▸ Backups), and a local backup schedule that silently stops is only discovered when you need to restore. The pane reports whether the service is running, the age and size of the most recent backup, and raises an alert when backups go stale. Point the Router & Network pane at the same host for reachability, and use the UniFi pane's local console key for gateway detail.
