Zigbee/Thread sensors, hubs and radar presence sensors · Home Automation
Aqara (Lumi United Technology) makes low-cost smart-home hardware: contact, motion, temperature, vibration and leak sensors, plugs, curtain motors, locks, camera hubs, and the FP-series mmWave radar presence sensors (FP1/FP2 over Wi-Fi; FP300 and FP400 over Thread, with some models also supporting Wi-Fi). Most sensors speak Zigbee and need an Aqara hub (M1S/M2/M3) — or any Zigbee coordinator, which is the more useful route here: paired to Zigbee2MQTT or deCONZ, they appear in the Zigbee pane with their vendor, model, on/off state and link quality, and can be controlled without Aqara's cloud. Aqara's hubs also expose devices to HomeKit and Matter. The FP-series radar sensors detect presence rather than motion, so they hold a room 'occupied' when nobody is moving — better for lighting and occupancy automations than a PIR, at the cost of needing careful zone setup. Thread caveat: a Thread accessory has no IP address on your LAN and cannot be found by a network scan. Device Discovery sees the Thread Border Router it connects through (a HomePod, Apple TV 4K, Nest Hub or an Aqara hub, advertised as _meshcop._udp), not the sensors behind it — so a Thread sensor missing from the device list is expected, not a fault.
