UnrealIRCd is one of the most widely used IRC servers — feature-rich (channel modes, cloaking, spamfilter, TLS, WebSocket/WebIRC) with a JSON-RPC admin API. Build/install from the site, configure unrealircd.conf, and run ./unrealircd start. 6667 plaintext / 6697 TLS. Bundles its own services or pairs with Anope.
