Backdrop CMS is a fork of Drupal 7 built for small and medium organisations that wanted Drupal's structured-content model without the rewrite to Drupal 8+. Runs on the same PHP/MySQL stack as WordPress and Drupal, with a config-management workflow and an upgrade path from Drupal 7. A reasonable landing spot for a legacy Drupal 7 site that can no longer stay on an unsupported release.
